RSGB Contest Results 10GHz Trophy 2015
v4.144 by G4CLA

This contest saw a reduction in entries compared with last year, and less activity on the band.  Perhaps the bad weather deterred portable entrants, with the rain not offering much rain scatter as compensation.

One contestant missing this year was John Wood, G4EAT, who sadly became a Silent Key at a young age in February.  He won the contest several times over the last ten years, including 2014, and was a stalwart on the microwave and VHF bands.

The winners of the 10GHz Contest trophy this year were the Colchester Radio Amateurs, with an excellent total of QSOs and multipliers.  They definitely make the most of their coastal site and the North Sea troposcatter possibilities, with about half their QSOs from the European mainland.

In second place were the Telford and District Amateur Radio Society, who (like those lower in the table) made all their QSOs from the British Isles.  Some good distances were achieved, but a G to GD QSO on CW of almost 400 km was unfortunately lost because of weak signals in poor conditions.

The UKAC contests each month are good opportunities for promoting activity on 10GHz, and for supporting your local club.  Good luck!

Ed Taylor, GW3SQX
