RSGB Contest Results 1st 144MHz Backpackers 2015
v4.144 by G4CLA

1st 144 MHz Backpackers Contest 2015.

Thirty Four stations entered this contest which is a considerable increase on previous years. There are two sections to this contest, the 3W Backpackers (3B) & 10W Hilltoppers (10H) & this is the first of five sessions. Conditions were thought to be average with several entrants experiencing strong, cold winds at their rather exposed locations.

The FT817 was again the dominant radio in the 3B section with 12 of the 17 entries using that rig. The best DX was achieved by G4ALE/P at 693km in the 10H section.

During the adjudication process, the logs of the RSGB May 2m contest were used for cross checking.

The Backpackers Trophy will be awarded to the leading station is section 3B with the best three normalised scores out of the five sessions.

Congratulations go to certificate winners as below:

  • Winner, section 3B: Andrew, GW4XZL/P
  • Runner-Up, Section 3B: Kevin, G7KXZ/P
  • Leading Foundation Licensee, Section 3B: Carol, M6ZCA/P
  • Winner, Section 10H: Mike (G3VYI) G4ALE/P
  • Runner-Up, Section 10H: Steve, G0EAK/P
  • Leading Intermediate Licensee, Section 10H: Phillip, 2E0NVS/P
  • Leading Foundation Licensee, Section 10H: Tony, M3TGS/P

Many thanks to all that took part and good luck for the remainder sessions.

73,

Richard G4WFR
