RSGB Contest Results 50MHz Contest CW 2014
v4.145 by G4CLA

50 MHz CW 2014

This is the third year of the 50MHz CW contest.  Unfortunately over this period the number of entries has been decreasing resulting in only 26 entries this year.  There were eight G stations with moderate numbers of QSOs who did not enter.

Tropo conditions were reported as poor.  Sporadic E was present from 09:23 through until the end with conditions improving as the event progressed.  There were 123 Sporadic-E QSOs which is just over 20% of the total QSOs made.  There were 100 stations reported in the logs who were in G, GM, GW and outside the UK in 4X, 9A, E7, EA, EA8, HA, I, IS0, LZ, ON, S5, UR, YL, YO, YT, ZB2.  The best DX was between G3BJ and 4X5NX/M at 3971 kms.  There were only three tropo contacts over 400kms with the best being between MM0GPZ (IO75) and G0HGH (IO92) at 423 kms.

During the adjudication 6.7% of QSOs were disallowed.  Strangely by far the most common error was with RST.

Congratulations go to:

  •  John G4CZB/P for winning the Open section.
  •  G3MEH operated by Jeremy G3XZG for winning the SF section.
  •  The other certificate winners who are identified in the results tables.

This contest is the second leg of the 2014 VHF CW Championship.  G3TCU maintains his lead with G4ZTR in a very close second place.
