RSGB Contest Results Overall UKAC 2013
v4.145 by G4CLA

The UKAC series continue to be very popular. This year 110 different clubs participated, slightly down from last year’s 113, although the number of stations entering increased from 532 to 574.

Anyone familiar with the results of recent years will know that the club competition has been dominated by the Bolton Wireless Club, usually winning all 6 qualifying events by some margin.  It was apparent early in 2013 that they would face a real challenge to remain at the top of the table this year.  After a few months it looked like the Travelling Wave CG might be able to pull off the seemingly impossible and take 1st place from BWC.  The final results show that the Travelling Wave CG has won 5 of the 6 events to win the BWC trophy.  Congratulations to all their team members.  It’s worth noting that the group were down in 38th position in 2011. The Bolton Wireless Club is in 2nd place, winning the overall SHF events.  Last year’s runners up, Spalding & DARC are in 3rd place.

This year we have again calculated the overall scores for all the individual stations taking part, collated irrespective of the sections they entered.  This year the top two places are occupied by Spalding stablemates, Keith G4ODA and Bob G1ZJP operating as M1MHZ.  Both operate as single op’s and are to be congratulated on the commitment and effort, week after week, they have displayed throughout the year.  1st place goes to Keith; helped no doubt by the scores gained on the SHF bands with Bob in 2nd place. Not far behind are last year’s winners, the G3PYE team from Camb-Hams in 3rd and Dave G7RAU, part of the Travelling Wave CG, in 4th. Congratulations also go to Andy Brown, 2E0VPX, the highest placed intermediate licensee and Phil Willetts, M6SRZ, the highest placed foundation licensee.

The Contest Committee would like to thank all those who took part in this year’s activity contests and wish all entrants good luck for 2014.

Pete Lindsay, G4CLA
