The new backpacker's season got off to a cold and windy start with this contest. Several entrants reported that the wind was strong enough to give them problems controlling the direction of the antenna. There was some DX available and almost half of the entrants managed to break the 500km barrier.
The standard of logging was extremely variable. Four stations managed not to loose a single point during adjudication - well done. On the other hand, six stations had the misfortune to loose between 20% and almost 28% of their claimed score. For one station, this was mainly due to mis-reading the rules and starting one hour early at 1100 BST rather than 1100 GMT. Please check the rules before the contest! The average loss of points was 12%.
