2nd 50MHz Contest 2009

Both the weather and radio conditions were poor for this contest, many entrants referring to heavy QSB which made life difficult. Only three contacts outside the UK appeared in the logs, these being in France and Belgium rather than distant dx. Signal reports handed out reflected the conditions; no log was filled with the ubiquitous `59' regardless of the actual signal, some didn't contain a single `59' sent.

In section O, Tiverton Group G4TSW had a significant lead ahead of Flight Refuelling ARS G4RFR; not only from the number of contacts, but also from the geographical advantage of higher points/QSO when there's no propagation outside the UK. G4OBK benefited similarly in a very close fight at the top of section SF. On claimed scores, G4DEZ, G4OBK and G4ASR were only a few percent apart. G4DEZ held on to top place thanks to an error free log with G4OBK finally just a tiny whisker ahead of G4ASR. Given the margin of just 0.4%, both will receive certificates for their efforts. Additionally, G0HFX receives a certificate as the leading 25W/single aerial station.
