144MHz AFS 2009

Once again I am happy to report that the number of logs received for this year AFS contest has increased, especially in the SF section and once again it is amazing to see so many portables active for a December contest!

If last year's conditions were only average, then this year's conditions must be categorised as well below average as despite the increased activity in the UK, QSO and points totals for the leading stations are down on last year.

In the Single Op Fixed Section, Bryn G4DEZ continues to dominate the top spot, with Peter G0VVE not too far behind in second place.

Once again Matt MW0MAT/P heads the Open section, despite having to return home early when the torment of the packed lunch he left on the kitchen table became too much to bear! In second place this year is Jonathan, G0DVJ/P.

In the AFS tables, once again the Chesham & District ARS came out on top with an excellent team score and therefore retain the G3MEH trophy. In second place this year are the Trowbridge & DARC, who must be congratulated on managing to get 10 of their club members on the air, a great effort!

This contest is well overdue some reasonable winter conditions, let hope they turn up for next year's event.
