2nd 70MHz Contest 2010

Once again, a record entry level for this contest although general activity was slightly lower than last year. Conditions were reported to be poor with QSB. Fortunately for the portable stations, the weather was dry & bright over most of the country.
As last year, 46% of entrants had as far as could be checked, error free logs. 36% of logged errors were due to incorrectly logged reports & 20% of errors were due to incorrectly logged callsigns.
Checklog gratefully received from G3LVP.

Congratulations go to certificate winners as below:

  • Winner Open - Peter Croucher G4YPC/P

G4CZB
Very deep QSB on some contacts needed a few repeats.
G4DEZ
Diabolical QSB Noticed I was heard by IW4BET but only on MS!
G4FJK/P
The equipment worked well, the weather was kind and nothing broke. A good day out, but many improvements needed for next time. Tnx to all for the points, & sri to those that suffered from my cloth-ears.
G4VRC/P
Flat. No signals from GM heard from the South Downs this time. WX Dry. Sunny most of time but chilly breeze from north. A good spread of contacts. Shame no multipliers!
G4YPC/P
Average conditions
G4ZTR
Nice to work some new calls, but some regulars were missing
G8ASD/P
Giving a few points away. QTH, Blue Anchor, at sea level with unmodified FT847. Heard more but the 10W didn't make it!
G8LZE
Band very noisey. Nothing worked in last 50 minutes.
GM4DIJ

GM4VVX/P
Close to suicidal ! 50 min' before a signal heard (g4dez) MS bursts later but did not complete with G4VVE.
GU6EFB
Hard work flat from down here
GW4RWR
Unsettled wx,unsettled by the lack of propagation
M0AFJ
Slow Activity stopped by high QRN
M0ICK/P
