50MHz Trophy 2010

The `magic band' once again delivered a hectic contest, with prolonged periods of Sporadic E propagation into mainland Europe and beyond for all entrants. Openings into North America and the far East fleetingly brushed the east coast but eluded anyone further inland. Unsurprisingly, there were many comments about how enjoyable it was.

The leaders in each section were clear cut, but behind them there were some very close fights, with just one or two good contacts separating stations, or even groups of stations. The closest was between A1 and Five Bells CGs, who ended up separated by less than 0.2%! Unusually, multipliers made a significant difference to the order of the results.

Congratulations to Northern Lights CG, MD6V who win the Telford Trophy, G4DEZ who retains the Six Metre Cup and G7DDN who wins the 50MHz Backpackers Trophy. Also congratulations to all section winners and runners-up (including G4HGI as the leading 25W/single aerial station) who receive certificates, along with AO3L as the leading overseas entry.
