1.3GHz & 2.3GHz Trophy Contests 2010

The entry level for these contests which run during the IARU UHF contest is substantially higher than previous years. In total, 130 different stations were active on 1.3GHz & 35 stations on 2.3GHz. The weather conditions were once again very wet & windy causing some equipment problems leading to G3CKR/P losing their mast after the Trophy event but during the UHF contest on Sunday. M1CRO/P suffered problems with a flooded dish feed on 2.3GHz which knocked them way back this year.

Congratulations go to John Quarmby, G3XDY for once again not only winning the single operator fixed section on both bands but also for managing to beat the open section entries on 2.3GHz which earns him the G6ZR Memorial Trophy. Congratulations also to the Five Bells Contest Group who win the VHF Contest Committee Cup for their winning position on 1.3GHz and to all certificate winners.

Comments from the logs:
G0JJG
Good activity poor condx
G0RRC
First time on 23cms so all new to me, seemed very quiet though.
G0XDI
Conditions awful. Low UK Activity
G1ONE/P
Saturday for 3 hours Rained off
G3CKR/P
1.3GHz: Good weather Saturday before the storm Sunday 2.3GHz: Saturday was good wx all work well but sunday when down hill from early morning wet very windy. Lost the mast 60mph wind with dish on went qrt.
G3XDY
1.3GHz: Conditions nothing special but quite busy throughout 2.3GHz: Conditions about average.
G3YJR
Conditions nothing wonderful but nice to get a couple of Dutch contacts.
G4DEZ
Token entry for points in Championship. Still have to cut down row of trees that mask antenna
G4LDR
Poor
G4SJH
Nothing special
G5B
1.3GHz: Some good to average conditions around which died off as the rain front moved through returning again once the front had moved through. Some UK stations got away - some fairly local - Skeds generally worked well. KST a boon at these frequencies. 2.3GHz: Conditions as 23cms - new system seemed to work well. KST & Sked making was again essential on this band.
G6GVI
Just got back from Newark HamFest, and looking to give away points to anyone still around
G8OHM
1.3GHz: Below average, very quiet at times 2.3GHz: Average
GW8IZR
No tropo experienced here, DL stns just on nose floor, peaks of AS. Pleased with 797Km ODX which confirms equipment is OK but very slow going here in the west.
GW8NEY/P
Disappointing conditions. Late on as set up with new mobile mast took longer than anticipated. Fun, nevertheless!
M1CRO/P
1.3GHz: Monsoon WX. 2hrs late, hard to catch up. Condx normal. 2.3GHz: Flooded dish feed curtailed operations until Sunday AM when the sun came out!
