VHF Contests' Championship of 2010

The VHF Contests' Championship is decided by combining the scores from a representative selection of nine VHF and UHF RSGB contests. There are three sections in this Championship; Open, Single Operator Fixed Station and Single Operator Fixed Station Low Power (25W or less to a single antenna).

In the Single Operator Fixed section, Bryn G4DEZ continued his domination of this Championship. This is his sixth victory in seven years. Rob, G8HGN occupies the runners-up slot as he did last year.

The Open and Single Fixed Low Power sections were both close run affairs. In the Open section the winner and runner-up both entered all of the championship contests. After eight of the nine contests, the Colchester Contest Group of Colchester Radio Amateurs (last year's winner) was leading the Championship. However, the Five Bells Contest Group achieved first place in the 23cm Trophy and the 13cm Trophy contests (the normalised scores from these two events added together constitute the ninth Championship contest) to pip Colchester to the title. This is the Five Bells Contest Group's eighth win in eleven years.

In the Single Fixed Low Power section both leading stations (G8LZE and last year's winner G3YJR) entered eight Championship contests. After the final contest there was less than 10% point difference between first and second place with David Dix G8LZE emerging in top spot.
