144MHz CW

There were 25 valid logs entered in this year's contest, which equals the highest ever entry level seen in 2009. [Only 24 entries are listed below due to one log having a zero score after adjudication].

Conditions were generally described as poor. UK activity was also reported as poor, as is the norm for this contest. However the usual EU DX was available due to the concurrent Marconi Memorial Contest, which creates a lot of European activity.

The 24 hour Open section was won by Essex CW ARC for the second year running, with Tiverton (SW) RC in second place.

Joe Butt G0JJG won the 24 hour Single Operator Fixed section, after coming second last year. Bryan Turner G3RLE was in second place.

The 6 hour Open section was won by Robert Storeton-West GM4GUF/P, running just 15W to an HB9CV.

Jeremy Browne G3XZG, operating the station of G3MEH, is this year's winner of the 6 hour Single Operator Fixed section, just beating last year's winner John Lemay G4ZTR into second place. John maintains his record of being either first or second in his chosen section every year on record for this contest.

Alan Horne G0TPH gets the certificate for being the highest placed fixed station running 25W or less to a single antenna.

Comments from the logs
G0DUB
Split my operating hours 1400-1700 on Saturday, 1100-1300 Sunday. That's a strategy not to repeat next year, not much activity on the Sunday -(
G0JJG
Seemed to be more UK activity this year, but no gm/gi etc. Variable condx. Heard several OK stations but could not raise any.
G3LET
Just a few hours to see how activity compared to the last time I entered in 2009. Plenty from Europe but pitiful from the UK where nobody seemed to be taking the event at all seriously. Very little heard from the north, although early morning might have been better. I bought a K3 transverter after the 2009 event but still getting around to assembling it!
G3TCU
Conditions poor with deep QSB. Low UK activity but good opportunity to work some new EU squares
G3VYI
Nice to work some EU dx on CW
G4C
Some nice tropo. Aggresive QSB at times
G4HGI
Reasonable. sporadic s & p
G4RYV
conditions seemed fair from here, where were all the uk stations? My number of contacts down on last time.
G4TSW
Enjoyed the first 6hrs so much, we came back to the Tiverton club for more on Sunday. Our first time out in this event, practicising our CW skills. UK activity was low - is there anything that can be done to stimulate this, as has happened in other contests?
G4XPE
Apalling conditions with very bad qsb
G6TGO
Very poor activity.
GM4DIJ
Flat -didn't hear much
GM4GUF/P
Heavy QSB.
GM4VVX
Heard only 2 "CQ contest" in 18 hours qrv. Very low activity ! THANK YOU to those who came on just to give me a few points.
