432MHz Trophy 2011

The best description for conditions during this contest are probably best described as dire! Strong winds, heavy rain & a flat band, but his didn't stop it from being well supported compared to previous years.

Well ahead in the Open section to take lead from a location different to previous years are the Parallel Lines CG who retain the 1951 Council Cup. Five Bells CG take second place. In the Single Operator Fixed section, a very close run for 1st position. Bryn Llewellyn, G4DEZ would have been runner-up, but after adjudication & careful log checking, makes top place. Matthew Cabban G0XDI, obo Black Sheep CG takes second place.

Congratulations to section winners, runners-up & other certificate winners.

Checklogs gratefully received from GR6NHU, G6MXL/P & M0TAZ/P
Comments from the logs:
2E0BMO
Poor conditions and little activity. QRT at 19:30z due to thunder & lightning. Longish QSB with GM4JTJ & GM3HAM/P but good to work them. Nothing heard East of the Pennines.
G0XDI
Conditions poor and UK activity low. When DLs were pointing west they were quite loud at times
G3CKR/P
80% of contacts in first 4 hrs, busy 1st hr. Noticeable absence of some continentals. Equipment worked well this year after the many issues last. Tks all for contacts. Apologies to the DL's that we could not dig out above the noise level.
G3PIA
Wet. Low activity
G3YJR
Sounded like a flat band from here.
G3Z
Very poor wx and poor conditions some dx activity very low early finish
G4DEZ
Terrible conditions and low activity
G4HGI
Dire poor condx / activity. Contest needs moving to Sunday
G4HHJ
Token entry due to very limited operating time.
G4LIP/P
A big thank you to Bob, G4BAH for use of the G0KPW site for the contest. Wx was fine and at times very warm. The LA beacon was 59+ on Saturday morning, but conditions during the contest were poor with only a slight improvement in the late evening. Activity levels seemed down, especially from PA and ON. UK activity not bad, for a weekend contest that is! Great fun despite the poor conditions. Pete, G4CLA and Chris, G0HFX.
G5B
Flat as a pancake at start. Very poor all contest from an inland location at sea level. Boredom set in and cut entry short.
G6MXL/P
Very Poor.
G8HGN
Probably the worst ever 432 contest condx.
G8LZE
Low activity or too many pointy aerials fixed East?
G8OHM/P
Low activity, poor conditions and bad weather.
GD8EXI
Poor conditions and low activity, contest far too long.
GM4JR
Conditions awful. Thunder storms, heavy rain. Not many on either! GR6NHU Checklog, I could only hear one station on my little vertical so couldn't have given away any more points if I'd tried!
GW3ATZ
Lost the will to live at 9PM..!! Terrible condx. Little activity. Always hard from 50ft ASL, but never as bad as this.
GW4EVX
Very, very slow going! It would be better as a four hour contest on a Sunday morning.
M0TAZ/P
very poor, low activity a few DL and F stations around but hard work !
M0TUB
Lightening ended the fun
M1CRO/P
Average.
M3JAC
Flat and 'orrible!!
M6XJP
Heavy QSB at times. Poor conditions at my loc. Thanks for the contacts, very much appreciated.
MW6OXO/P
Cloudy very cold, windy and wet heard German station no qso on 1w today
