The VHF Contests' Championship 2011

The VHF Contests' Championship aims to provide an overall result for the year - based on a representative selection of contests. The contests that count towards the Championship are: March 2m/70cm (the overall 2 band normalised score), 432 MHz Trophy, May 144 MHz, 50 MHz Trophy, 144 MHz Low Power, 432 MHz Low Power, 144 MHz Trophy, 70 MHz Trophy, 1.3 GHz Trophy & 2.3 GHz Trophy (combined score)

All UK stations entering 3 or more events are automatically included in the Championship. There is a Single Operator Fixed Station section (SF), a Single Operator Fixed Low Power section [less than 25W to a single antenna] (SFLP) and a section for All Others [Groups and Portables] (O).

All entries have been re-allocated and re-normalised from the original sections and points scores in each qualfying contest. The re-normalisation is against the best scoring station/group in each individual Championship section.

All Single Fixed stations are entered and tabulated into the SF section. Stations qualifying for the SFLP section are also entered and tabbulated into the SFLP section.

Where Groups/Clubs have entered more than one station for any contest, then the highest scoring station has been included in the overall total for the Group.

The overall results are shown in the accompanying tables.

The John Pilags Memorial Trophy is awarded to the winner of section SF: Bryn G4DEZ.

The Low Power Championship Trophy is awarded to the winner of section SFLP: Richard G4HGI.

The Racal Radio Cup is awarded to to the winner of section O: Five Bells 'A'.

Certificates are awarded to winners and runners-up of each section. Additionally, Certificates are awarded to the leading Beginner and Intermediate licensees. All these are shown with an * in the accompanying tables. Congratulations to all.

As a final piece: The writer apologises for the long time it has taken to produce the results for this Championship. This was partly due to personal circumsatnces, which have now substantially improved. Entrants may not be aware that the Championship is possibly unique in the CC programme in that it is necessary to process the results manually. The CC is working right now to automate this process and we have high hopes that this may be accomplished during the 2012 season.
