AFS Super League - Winter 2011-12

Building on the success and popularity of the AFS Super League - Winter 2010/11, the Winter 2011/12 competition was expanded to embrace 6 AFS Contests - covering a wider frequency spectrum, namely: 50 MHz AFS, October 2011; RSGB Club Calls Contest (1.8 MHz), November 2011; 144 MHz AFS, December 2011; 3.5 MHz CW AFS, January 2012; 3.5 MHz SSB AFS, January 2012 and 432 MHz AFS, February 2012.

Last year, with 4 contributing AFS events, 88 Affiliated Societies fielded at least one team. This year, the number rose to 118. 8 Affiliated Societies entered all 6 contributing events. Several fielded more than one team in the same event, but it should be remembered that only the highest scoring team contributes to the SLP for that event. The most popular events proved to be those on 80 m.

With an overall SLP score of 5624, out of a possible 6000, the winner of the Super League is Camb-Hams. A Certificate is awarded, declaring it to be "AFS Contest Club of the Year". In second place, with 5562 (circa 1% behind), lies Bristol Contest Group and in third place, with 5193, is Trowbridge & District Amateur Radio Club. Certificates, bearing the appropriate endorsement, are awarded to these Societies. These "top three" Societies are indicated by a # in the accompanying table, Each team member contributing to the top three's scores will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

Additionally, a Certificate of Achievement is awarded to the 5 Affiliated Societies who entered a team in all six of the contributing AFS contests, and achieved an SLP score in each one of 250 or more. They are indicated by a * in the table.

At the beginning of this Super League series, it was the Contest Committee's hope to be able to post a running SLP total on the CC website. In the out-turn, this did not prove possible. However, the process is now in place and will be introduced for 2012/2013, starting with the 50 MHz AFS Contest in October
