1.3GHz UKAC 2024 - DECEMBER & WHOLE YEAR RESULTS

The number of clubs taking part in the 1.3GHz UKAC series this year was 50: 20 in the General Club section and 30 in the Local Club section. This was 9% down on 2023, with a slightly greater loss in the Local Club section. The total number of different callsigns submitting entries across the year was 180 (26 section AO, 56 section AR and 104 section AL) - 20% down on 2023, with the greatest drop (20%) in section AL.

The month-by-month figures for number of entries, number of callsigns appearing in entrants' logs and big squares were quite closely correlated, as might be expected. They broadly showed a rise from January to March, a fairly steady profile from April to August and a fall thereafter till the end of the year - with the exception in a significant upward blip in September. From entrant's comments this appears to have been due to a good tropospheric opening mainly to OZ & SM. The average monthly figures were entries - 92, different stations appearing in entrants' logs - 146, and big squares appearing in entrants' logs - 35.

Looking at the club results, in the General Club section the leading entrant was Northern Fells CG for the fourth consecutive year followed by Harwell ARS for the third consecutive year. In the Local Club section, Parallel Lines CG, took first place for the fourth consecutive year, with Chesham & District ARS taking second place.

Moving on to individual results, the leading two entrants in the Open section were G3XDY in first place (for the ninth consecutive year) and G4ODA in second place (for the fifth)! In the Restricted section, the leading place was retained by G4CLA who has been first in the section every year since 2016, with G8CUL moving up one place to second. In the Low Power section, G3SQQ takes first place for the second consecutive year, with G0FVI/P /P moving up six places to second. The station providing best DX to the greatest number of entrants (135) was GD8EXI in IO74 square.
