1st 1.3/2.3GHz Fixed - April 1997

Once again we chose an evening with flat propogation. G3MEH reported things much better
the following day and suggested privatising the VHFCC and investing the proceeds in a
crystal ball. I'm all in favour as long as I get a fat bonus next time there's a lift
during a contest!

Despite the conditions, I counted 55 different stations active on 1.3GHz although a
couple of regulars weren't on and several stations with good QSO counts didn't enter.
On 2.3GHz, the signs are quite healthy; a sizeable increase in activity and over half
of those eligible to enter did so.

Thanks to G6SPS/P for providing extra activity and a check log; Andrew made 14 QSOs on
1.3GHz for 1288km and 2 QSOs for 344km on 2.3GHz.

Congratulations to G3XDY, G4XUM, GD4GNH and G6XDI who all get certificates.
