There was a reasonable number of entries to this contest despite the lack of publicity and the uninspiring propagation conditions. In the AFS section the Five Bells CG had a commanding overall lead while Sutton & Cheam RS improved their performance this year to put the Harwell ARS into third place. Cray Valley RS deserve special mention for gaining fifth place with all three of their team members using low power, 25W, 10W and 10W respectively. Frank Laanen, PE1EWR, provided many with their best DX contact and in doing so came close to leading the field in the Single Operator Fixed section. Bob Offer, G1ZJP, operating M1MHZ was the winner with David Gilligan, G1OGY, the second UK station so he receives the runner up certificate. Simon Treacher M3CVN receives the certificate for the highest placed novice licensee. Thanks to James Beatwell 2E1GUA for a check log.

Remarkable how many bits of wire &
Things crawl away into the dark to hide. G1WAC Slooooooooooooooow. But at least antennas hadn't blown away after gales. G3MEH Average conditions with deep QSB on some longer distance paths. Disappointingly low activity. G3OLX GB3BSL booming at 59+ just no one there to work. Maybe its time to revamp this one. Add 23cms! G3PIA Might have been more stations on if the contest was listed in RadCom & in the RSGB NEWS? G3WHK The flattest conditions I've ever experienced on 70cms G4CQR Very windy. Very poor propagation north/south G4DEZ Very quiet only two DX stations total waste of time G4KIY Conditions not as good as last year. G4SIV Poor conditions - Poor activity - 90 mins missing at start & 90mins at the end and still
scored reasonably! G4WYJ Not many stations on air this year. Several stations said did not know contest was on 1/2/04 G8IYS Not many stations on air this year. Several stations said did not know contest was on 1/2/04 G8OHM Not as good as last year. G8SRL Conditions were not very good. After the first two hours there was almost no new activity.
The time between QSOs 21 & 22 was 80 minutes, 22 & 23 was 59 minutes and between 24 & 25
was 65 minutes. It didn't help that it was not advertised in either Rad Com or the GB2RS
news. Maybe you could try it as an afternoon/evening contest. M0DDT Poor RSGB news info so very few stations. Must correct fault in ant too!! M1MHZ Poor activity & conditions - says it all when on the following tuesday night I worked 48
in 2 1/2hrs here it was just 37 in 6 hrs - Dreadful.
