144MHz AFS 2005

Disappointing conditions prevailed again during the 2005 AFS contest, described as "poor", "flat", "extremely poor" and "abysmal"!

In the AFS results, Colchester Radio Amateurs triumphed again with a very strong entry from all 5 team members. Chesham & DARS jumped up the table into second spot ahead of Harwell ARS in third. The number of portable stations continues to grow each year and is starting to have an affect on the AFS results. In the top 5 placed AFS clubs, only Chesham had no portable stations in their team.

In the individual tables, Dave G7RAU, moved up into 1^st place this year in the SF section, ahead of Bryn G4DEZ.

In section O Dave G1OGY ventured out portable to take 1^st place and was "quite startled by some long distance QSOs appearing out of an apparently dead band". The multi-op entry from Derek G3WHK and John G0BWV are in 2^nd place.

Congratulations also go to Alun, G4WGE operating G3OLX, the leading Single aerial 25w station in the SF section, Pete 2E0NEY and Kevan 2E0WMG, the leading intermediate licensed stations and for the second year running, Bob M3RCV the leading foundation licensed entry.
