1.3 GHz / 2.3 GHz Trophies 2006 Results

After a poor year in 2005, it was good to see entries rise again this year. Although there were some good conditions during the 24 hour UHF event which runs over this weekend, unfortunately they didn't occur during the first 8 hours of the contest which count towards the Trophy results. It was generally the usual suspects to be found at the tops of the tables, with the Colchester CG, M1CRO/P dominating the Open Section and John Quarmby, G3XDY, dominating the Single Operator Fixed Section. However, one significant change is that this year, as a single operator, G3XDY managed to beat the multi-op teams on 13cm to take the G6ZR Trophy - quite an achievement when he was also competing competitively all the bands from 70cm to 3cm simultaneously. The Colchester CG retain the VHF Contest Committee Cup for winning the 1.3 GHz event.

Congratulations also go Roger Piper, G3MEH and David Millard, M0GHZ who were single operator runners up on 1.3 GHz and 2.3 GHz respectively, and to the Five Bells Group, G5B who were runners-up on both bands in the Open section.
