2nd 50MHz contest 2008

In contrast with April's 50MHz contest, most comments reported pleasant weather and reasonable radio conditions. Exceptions were G0HIK who was in permanent mist, and GM4VVX operating GS0IYK/P, who couldn't raise contacts outside Scotland. A third of entrants - and not only the `big' stations - had good distance tropo/Es contacts, and nine different countries outside the UK appear in logs.

Also in contrast to April's `bent it, broke it, squashed it' time, the folks at GD0EMG were firing on all elements to rack up a commanding score in section O, ahead of G0HIK/P who was clear in second place.

In section SF Roger, G3MEH wins, and gains kudos for a high scoring error free log with G8ZRE not far behind on QSO points, but by a bigger gap after multipliers. G4DEZ was hampered with a broken aerial, broken rotator and broken amplifier; the latter meaning that he also gets a certificate as the leading (and only) 25W/single aerial fixed station.
