VHF Contests' Championship of 2009

The VHF Contests' Championship is decided by combining the scores from a representative selection of ten VHF and UHF RSGB contests. There are three sections in this Championship; Open, Single Operator Fixed Station and Single Operator Fixed Station Low Power (25W or less to a single antenna).

All of the sections produced clear cut winners this year. The leading station in both the Open and Single Operator Fixed sections each entered all nine of the Championship sessions, the leading station in the Low Power section entered eight of the sessions.

59 (42 in 2008, 34 in 2007) stations out of a total of 276 (197 in 2008, 160 in 2007) participants in the Championship contests entered three or more of the qualifying events. These stations are listed in the results table.

These results demonstrate a steady increase in participation in V/UHF contests over the past few years.

Congratulations to the Colchester Contest Group of Colchester RA for winning the Open section with the A1 Contest Group in second place.

Congratulations to Bryn Llewellyn, G4DEZ for winning the Single Operator, Fixed Station section, with Rob Harrison, G8HGN in second place.

Top honours in the Single Operator Low Power section this year go to Graham Coyne G3YJR with Bob Treacher, 2E0RCV in second place. Bob also receives the Leading Intermediate Station award in the Single Operator, Fixed Station section.

The Leading Overseas Station award in the Single Operator, Fixed Station section goes to Frank Laanen, PE1EWR.
