New 144MHz UK Cumulatives Rules

In response to feedback received from members, the VHF Contests Committee has introduced on an experimental basis, a series of 144MHz Cumulative contests whose objective is to encourage and reward intra-UK contacts, and to remove any perceived bias towards east-coast stations. QSOs with non-UK stations are allowed, but score fewer points than UK contacts, and don’t earn any multipliers.

The format is experimental, and if successful may be introduced into other contests in the calendar. Members’ feedback is very important – please let us have your comments with your entry, or direct to RSGB VHFCC, PO BOX 40, NEWPORT, PO32 6BF, or by email to the adjudicator, vhf.entry@rsgb.org.uk, who will be pleased to answer any queries on the rules.

.Rules for these contests are as follows:-

  1. General rules and rule S5 apply unless superseded here.
  2. Modes: All mode
  3. Sections: SF,.SO & M
  4. Exchange: RS(T), Serial no starting at 001 in each session, IARU locator, Postcode district.
  5. Scoring: QSO with UK station: 5 points. QSO with non-UK station: 1 point. No distance points.
  6. Multipliers: Total postcode districts worked. The rules for postcode district multipliers are as per the general rules. There are no country multipliers and no locator square multipliers.
  7. Overall tabulation: As general rule S5 – submit logs for all the sessions you operate in, your best 3 sessions from 4 compared with the other entries will count.
  8. Awards: Certificates for leading station and runner up in each section, and for the leading station from each UK country in each section.

The format of the contest is experimental and might be subject to change in the light of experience; accordingly some computer programs will not support the scoring system. Please send computer logs wherever possible; if your computer logging program does not support the scoring system, please enter your logs on computer anyway and calculate the scores manually, or let the adjudicator score for you.
