RSGB Contest Results Club Calls (1.8MHz AFS) 2020
v4.145 by G4CLA

1.8 Mhz AFS 2020

There was a  welcome increase in entrant numbers  from 2019.There were 171 station entries for adjudication this year, which is  50 up on 2019.  A total of 68 clubs were represented, 17 in the General section  and 51 in the Local categories, again an increase on 2019. 92 stations entered the SSB section and 79 entered the Mixed section. Tim  M0BEW  provided an extra bonus by running the RSGB club station G6XX .Conditions seemed OK, but not great, and one W was worked. Most entrants enjoyed the contest activity being high, though a high dipole or inverted L  or end fed halfwave was needed to be  competitive as usual.Plenty of smaller stations also did well.

Congratulations to Camb-Hams 'A' for again winning the David Hill G4IQM Memorial Trophy for the leading Club team, also the leading Local team, just ahead of Bristol ARS 'A', then Norfolk ' A' .Congratulations to Andy G4PIQ  for  winning the Ariel Trophy for 1st UK & CD station place in the individual station competition. Second place goes to last year's winner David  M7W (G3TBK) and third to MX0TTG ,alias  Brian G3UJE. The leading General team was  the DeMontfort  'A' team , followed by the RSGB Contest club team.

Most logs were based on N1MM+ or SD and this year a few reported N1MM+ generation problems; some entrants used the Sent info dialogue box to enter the club name and status. This year N1MM+ then generated these as extra info in  the sent part of  the cabrillo log, which is not compatable with the published contest log cabrillo format . The club name and status  entry input is via  the website entry forms for this contest, as described in  the format  notes. Editingof  the F1  etc N1MM+ keys is another way  to generate CW if needed. Yours truly tried to help those rejected, and none were lost as  entrants. Removal of  that info and re-generation of  the cabrillo log cured the problem, though some then hand edited their log. Please always check your log format against  the published format!
