RSGB Contest Results HF Championship 2017
v4.145 by G4CLA

This year saw a record 384 callsigns in the final table, nearly twice 2016's total, and a great achievement during a year of unreliable propagation on the higher HF bands.

During the last few years, the top of the table has had a familiar look to it and this year is no exception.  For the last five years, five stations appear in the top ten four or more times -  G3LDI, G3SWC, G4FAL, G4FNL, and GW0GEI - a testament to sustained, top level contesting.

It's as if the phrase 'you've got to be in it to win it' was invented for the HF championship ie. sustained participation is essential for success as proved, yet again, by this year's top three stations, all of whom entered each of the 9 contests that comprise the competition.  Congratulations to this year's worthy champion Graham, G4FNL, a previous winner in 2015, who stormed to victory to win back the G2QT trophy from Steve, GW0GEI who came third.  In second place was Nick G4FAL .

Graham, G4FNL's score was truly impressive and unlikely to be beaten: he  accumulated 93% of the maximum points available.  Having said that, it only took a score of 41% to make the top ten, so joining 'the hall of fame' is surely not beyond many of those further down this year's table.  Could 2018 be your year?
