1st 144MHz Backpackers Contest 2013

Twenty eight stations took part in this first session of the Backpackers Contest, compared to twenty last year.   This year, the 3W Backpackers section was the most popular.

Weather conditions were good, and most entrants reported a pleasant afternoon on the hills.

All Backpackers logs were cross-checked with the logs from the concurrent May 144MHz contest, as part of the adjudication process.

The best DX by a clear margin (805km) was worked by GW4RWR/P in the 3W section, from his North Wales hilltop site at 827m above sea level.

Congratulations to Paul Selwood, G8BGV/P, for winning the 10W Hilltoppers section, and also to Tony Judge, G1ARU/P, who took second place.

Rhys Thomas, GW4RWR/P, won the 3W Backpackers section, with Keith Haywood, G8HXE/P, as the runner up.

This is the first of five sessions of the 144MHz Backpackers Contest.
