1.3GHz Trophy Contest

This contest, together with the sister 13cm Trophy Contest, form the final two events in the VHF Championship. The frequencies involved mean that they are usually quiet events and 2019 was no exception.  Both events carry 1000 normalised points for the Championship.

There were 158 active stations (124 in 2018) and 40 squares worked (39 in 2018).  There were 47 entries (32 entries in 2018 and  32 in 2017); so a significant increase although still well below the number of entries for the 23cm AC.   A glance at the equipment used suggests that the arrival of the IC9700 has enabled people previously unable to get onto 23cm relatively easily to do so (including your Adjudicator).   Opinions varied on conditions (G3XDY 'respectable', G8CUL 'started poor and then got worse').

This event is partly co-ordinated with a IARU Region 1 contest and the R1 logs were obtained and were used to assist with adjudication.

ODX in O was the G3CKR/P/DL0GTH QSO at 917km and in SF the G3XDY/OK2A QSO at 827km.
