1.3GHz Trophy Contest

This contest, together with the sister 13cm Trophy Contest, form the final two events in the VHF Championship. The frequencies involved mean that they are usually quiet events and 2020 was no exception.

There were 129 active stations (158 in 2019) and 35 squares worked (40 in 2019).  There were 40 entries (47 entries in 2019).    Both weather and radio conditions were universally condemned - G3PHO reporting 'Absolutely hopeless conditions and foul weather' and G3XDY 'rock bottom conditions'.  Last word to G4HGI 'abysmal'.

This event is partly co-ordinated with a IARU Region 1 contest and the R1 logs were obtained and were used to assist with adjudication.

ODX in SO was the G3R/DR9A QSO at 877km and in SF the G3XDY/OK2A QSO at 827km (the same as in 2019).

• Keith G4ODA who was runner up in Single Operator Fixed section
• Warrington Contest Group G3R (op G0CDA) who won Single Operator Others
• Julian M0UGA/P who was runner up in Single Operator Others
• Frank PE1EWR, who was leading overseas entrant
• Andy 2E0XMB, who was leading Intermediate station
• John G3SQQ who won the certificate for leading station using 25w into a single antenna.
