Many thanks for check logs received from G3NPI
70 MHz CW 2013
This is the fourth year of this event. Entries increased by 50% compared to 2012 though the total number of stations active (61) was virtually the same. Stations were active from EI, G, GM, GW, ON, PA and SP. Murphy was present on the day as there were good Sporadic-E conditions before and after the contest. However during the contest there were only 5 sporadic-E contacts into SP and a lot of QRM from Eastern European broadcast stations.
Activity was steady across the three hours with 41% of contacts in the first hour, 32% in the second and 27% in the third. Conditions were generally rated as average with perhaps less QSB than usual. The best tropo contact was between GM4ZUK/P and G4RFR at 687 kms. In total there were 6 tropo QSOs greater than 600 kms with a further 16 greater than 500kms. Logging accuracy was absolutely key this year with the three top stations overall changing position during adjudication. In the end the top two stations overall competing for the G3JYP Cup were separated by just 210 points in a score of just over 300k points (0.07%).
Congratulations go to:
Roger - G4BVY
