RSGB Contest Results 2020
v4.144 by G4CLA

SHF UKAC November 2020

Conditions were generally noted as flat for the final event of 2020, with numbers of entrants marginally lower than last month.

Annual Summary

71 stations entered on 2.3GHz this year (up 3), whilst 3.4GHz saw a substantial rise (driven by the availability of a reasonably priced transverter), going from 28 last year to 36 in 2020, an increase of 28%. 5.7GHz activity was in the doldrums, with entries falling again this year, from 25 to 22. 10GHz remained level at 36 entries. The lockdowns and other restrictions had a big impact on portable operation this year, it is hoped that 2021 will see a return to normality.

The harmonised timings introduced this year appeared to work well, with few comments other than that there was still insufficient time to work everybody. No reports of interference to the primary user on 2320MHz have been received.

A new trophy will be awarded for the SHF UKAC from this year in commemoration of Denis Jones G3UVR, who was an enthusiastic supporter of these events. Congratulations to Pete G4CLA as the winner of the trophy in its inaugural year as overall winner of the SHF events.

There will be some adjustments to the power levels in the SAO and SAR sections in 2021 to encourage a more even spread of entries between the sections.

Stations wishing to take part in the 2.3GHz events are reminded that they must register their station with Ofcom, and also hold the relevant notice of variation if they wish to use 2300-2302MHz.

Congratulations to the winners and runners up in all the sections, who will receive certificates, as follows:
