1st 1.8 MHz Contest 2019

This year's contest attracted more interest than in 2018 with 87 valid entries received (81 in 2018) including a 16% increase in the number of UK participants who submitted a log.

The Dutch PACC contest once again helped boost the QSO numbers with 103 callsigns from the Netherlands appearing in the logs.  DX was in very short supply, however, with just one station appearing from each of 3V8, JA and VE.  Eight USA callsigns also appeared in logs but only contributed to four UK entries.

The tops of the tables feature many familiar callsigns, perhaps not surprisingly since successful top-band operation is beyond the reach of many.  Andy, G4PIQ, once again prevailed in the UK Assisted section, scoring enough points to also win the Somerset Trophy (for being the leading station in the UK Unassisted or Assisted sections).   In second place was M7W operated by Dave, G3TBK.

The UK Non-assisted section saw a very close contest between last year's winner and runner up with Don, G5W, just pipping Allan, GM4ZUK, to the post, a reversal of last year's fortune. RV1CC and EI5DI take the leading positions in the Overseas Assisted and Non-assisted sections respectively.
