1st 1.8 MHz Contest 2022

This year's contest attracted 107 entries (plus 8 checklogs), well down on last year's all-time record but, nevertheless, the fourth highest this millennium. Once again, contributions from overseas matched the number of domestic stations.

Those that commented suggested that participation was well down on last year but the 247 non-entrants appearing in the logs exceeded last year's total of 233. Conditions were described as poor by some, and this is borne out by the fact that only 12 DX stations appeared in the logs representing Australia, Japan, North America and Asiatic Russia.

And so to the victors!

Clive GM3X (GM3POI) retains the top spot in the UK Assisted section and also the Somerset Trophy (awarded to the leading UK station in either category). To complete the Assisted section, Graham, G4FNL was in second place with Dave, M7W (G3TBK) once again coming third.

The UK Non-assisted category saw a battle between the VHF and HF Contest Committee chairs with Andy G4PIQ taking the honours from Nick G3DR (G4FAL). Whilst still very early days, this win puts Andy at the top of the HF Championship table. Don, G5W (G3BJ), last year's runner up, slipped into third place.

Heiko, DL8QS and Paul, EI5DI were the leading stations in the Overseas Assisted and Non-assisted categories respectively.
