RSGB Contest Results 2nd 1.8MHz Contest 2016

This year the 1st and 2nd 1.8Mhz contests reverted to their original CW only format along with an earlier start time of 1900z. This latter change impacts the opportunity to work North American DX for UK stations,though several managed East Coast US and  VE3. International participants were presented with different opportunites which saw JY9, 9M4 and JY stations being logged. Recent changes to the rules also mean that countries as well as UK districts now count as multipliers which, combined with the co-running of the Austrian 160m and French REF contest has added an international flavour to this event.

The Victor Desmond Trophy is awarded to the leading station in the UK Unassisted section,this year G4FNL was the victor, relinquishing his 2015 lead in the UK Assisted section to MW5R (MW0EDX). Our Non-UK Assisted section winner was DL6WT with EI5DI leading pole position in the Non-UK Unassisted Section.

The Maitland Trophy is awarded to the highest scoring Scottish entrant in the unassisted section across the 1st and 2nd 1.8 MHz events. In 2016 this is awarded to GM4ZUK.
