RSGB Contest Results 2nd 1.8MHz Contest 2019

2nd 1.8 MHz contest 2019

The 2nd 1.8MHz Contest in 2019 attracted 97 entries, some 20% more than last year (77 in 2018) and a welcome return to previous levels.  Undoubtedly, the concurrent REF and All Austrian 160m contests produced welcome European activity, but a few entrants commented on a lack of UK stations.  Overall, the leading scores were lower than last year.

Encouragingly, for two entrants, this was their first top band contest.

DX was in short supply, with just one JA, VE and VK plus 7 USA callsigns appearing in the submitted logs.

The Victor Desmond Trophy, awarded to the highest scoring UK&CD station (regardless of section), was won for the first time by Brian, G3UJE using the Tall Tress Contest Group's contest callsign G5D.

In the Non-UK sections, Leif, 8S0DX, prevailed in the Assisted category for the third year in a row and Paul, EI5DI, was the first placed Unassisted entrant.
