RoLo CW 2016

57 different stations appear in the logs of which 12 were from Europe and one from EI.  One Eu station made 11 qsos but sent his own locator every time, not easy to explain the rules on CW and in the middle of a contest!  Fortunately, although this resulted in stations sometimes exchanging this same locator later on, this had minimal impact.  Some non-UK stations did not send a locator at all and there was inconsistency in the way that entrants or their logging software dealt with that but provided the locator sent to the next contact matched what was recorded in the log there was no loss of points to either the sending or receiving station.

Graham Bubloz G4FNL repeated last year's success in the 2015 RoPoCo CW winning again this year with the same margin of 20 points.  Runner up and with the highest scoring most accurate UK & CD log is Steve White G3ZVW who is therefore awarded the G3XTJ Memorial Trophy.  Steve also wins the G5MY Trophy for the highest aggregate score over the two 2016 RoLo contests.  There were only two other error-free logs from G3VIP and G3RFH.  Joe Ryan EI7GY was the highest placed non-UK entrant.

Despite a simpler exchange format the mean error rate was 2.2 per log, similar to that seen  when postcodes were used.  As expected most contacts were made in the first 60 minutes, but the last half hour accounted for 12.5% of the total and for some this last 30 minute session helped to boost their score by much more than this.
