RoLo CW 2019

This year's event showed yet another small but welcome increase in entries and greater participation from stations outside the UK&CD.  One non-UK callsign in the logs was OX3XR sending locator GP44DE which was passed around many times without error!  This year there were 76 different callsigns in the logs, 23 from outside the UK&CD.

This year one type of error that occurred several times is where a mistake in receiving one character of the locator was immediately mis-logged by the next contact back to the original version.  Definitely a case of making sure you log what was sent and not what you think was sent!

In first place with 550 points and no errors is Tim Hugill G4FJK who therefore also receives the G3XTJ Memorial Trophy as the highest placed most accurate log.  In second place is David Cree G3TBK with 540 points followed by Graham Bubloz G4FNL and Tim Raven G4ARI in joint third on 530 points.  There were only five other error-free logs from DL4CF, G3GMS, G4RCD, M0ITR and M0NQN.

The highest placed non-UK&CD entrant is JanJaap Vosselman PG7V in 12th place overall followed by Joerg Vollbrecht DL4CF as the second highest and 27th overall.

The winner of the G5MY Trophy for the highest aggregate score over the two RoLo contests in 2019 is Graham Bubloz G4FNL.

Although there were a number of comments about the last half hour being slow, those 30 minutes were an opportunity to pick out some of the non-UK&CD participants whose contribution with points and less usual locators makes this event so much more challenging and fun.
