Activity in this contest has never been at a level where high rates can be sustained right through to the end and this year was no exception. However while achieving a good score is important this is not purely a ‘rate’ contest and the emphasis is equally on accuracy as well as quantity. The order at the top is more often than not determined by who makes the fewest errors. The mean error rate this time was 2.4 per log, very similar to this year’s SSB RoPoCo.

Brian Gale G3UJE leads the field by the narrowest of margins from Graham Bubloz G4FNL, with Don Beattie G3BJ in joint third place with Malcolm Prestwood G3PDH. Don has the highest scoring error-free log and is therefore awarded the G3XTJ Memorial Trophy for the highest placed most accurate log. Graham once again takes the G5MY Trophy for the highest aggregate score over the two RoPoCo contests in 2013. There were just six other error free logs from G3HEJ, G3JRM, G3LET, G3VQO, GM3WOJ and G3ZGC.

Errors were all the usual suspects plus a sprinkling of ‘not in log’ (rather more than usual) and RST errors. One error spotted for the first time was ‘V’ copied as ‘S0’ but not ‘ST’.
