Many thanks for check logs received from G3GWB
RoPoCo CW 2015
In terms of numbers this year's event was almost a re-run of 2014 with 51 stations active of which 33 submitted an entry. There were however several stations that made significant numbers of contacts but did not submit a log and one fairly regular entrant admitted to having forgotten about the contest! Last year seven participants tied for first place, not so in 2015 with Graham Bubloz G4FNL having a 20 point margin over Tim Hugill G4FJK in second place. Graham had no errors in his log so is awarded the G3XTJ Memorial Trophy for the highest placed most accurate log. Even with low activity it was still difficult to achieve an error-free log and there were only seven others from G3PDH, G3TJE, G4ARI, G4FAL, G4FJK, G4LMW and M0NQN.
The mean error rate was 1.8% with most errors as usual in the received postcode with the remainder being callsign, not in log, time out of contest and RST mistakes. One entrant had a non-UK station in the log but correctly did not exchange a postcode. This was flagged as an error in the adjudication report on the next UK station worked but as all discrepancies are checked for validity the points were restored to the innocent party. Generally the logging standard was very good reducing the time needed to complete the adjudication.
By winning both 2015 RoPoCo contests Graham Bubloz G4FNL is also awarded the G5MY Trophy for the highest aggregate score over both events.
Entries in this contest have been consistently between 40 and 50 since 2001 but dropped below 40 this year and last year for no obvious reason. A simple way to double the numbers would be for each operator to persuade one other to give it a go and send in an entry. Remember accuracy not speed is the key feature and all error-free logs will be noted in the report.
