2.3GHz Trophy Contest

This contest, together with the sister 23cm Trophy Contest, are the final two events in the VHF Championship. The frequencies involved mean that they are usually quiet events and 2018 was no exception.  This year both events carried 1000 normalised points for the Championship, and this has delivered an increase in the number of entrants on 2.3Ghz (which maybe co-incidental).

There were 57 active stations (45 in 2017, 39 in 2016) and 22 squares worked (21 in 2017, 19 in 2016).  There were 17 entries (11 in 2017, 9 in 2016). Whilst this event has become slightly more popular, it may not have felt like it to those taking part - with many stations noting poor conditions and low levels of activity.

ODX was the QSO between G5B and DR9A at 751km.

• John, G3XDY, who won the Single Operator Fixed section
• Five Bells Group, G5B, who were runners up in the open section
• Matt, 2E0MDJ/P, who was leading Intermediate station
• Denis, G3UVR, who was runner up in Single Operator Fixed section.
• David, G4ASR, who won a certificate for leading station using 25w or less into a single antenna.
