2nd Backpackers Contest

The weather again split the country, half had rain and wind while others enjoyed the sun. This was exactly the same as reported in the last session.

Conditions followed the weather from poor to average with QSB affecting many.

Could I politely ask entrants to double check their entries next time around. I had a couple of portable station not adding the /P to the entry, a site at 4m ASL and antenna at 261m. I do know operating in bad weather can make logging difficult but more 'Broken Calls' this year than last. Thanks.

Congratulations to all the certificate winners:

5B Section: 1st Place to Steve (G1YBB) as GW1YBB/P, 2nd Place to Simon GW8OVZ/P and Leading Foundation station to David M7ALE/P. Again, special mention to Tommy M7OMY/P as Leading under 18 entrant.

25H Section: 1st Place to Paul (G3YDY) operating as G8BGV/P, 2nd Place to Alastair G4RUL/P, Leading Intermediate station to Darrell 2E0VCC/P and Leading Foundation station to Dean M7CBI/P.

Hope to see and hear you all for the 3rd outing on Sunday July 3rd, this is the same date as VHF Field Day so should be higher activity.
