RSGB Contest Results 4th 144MHz Backpackers 2013

4th Backpacker 2013

Both the weather and the radio conditions were reported as poor.   There were plenty of mentions of high winds and even hail, with propagation conditions being described as flat.   Even with the concurrent RSGB Low Power contest, a lot of entrants commented on a struggle for QSOs.

The entry level was up on the same session last year (19 compared to 13), and this year the Backpackers section was more popular than the Hilltoppers (the opposite to last year).

Rhys Thomas, GW4RWR/P, was the winner in the Backpackers (3B) section, making it three wins out of four sessions.   Steve Marsh, G4TCU/P, was a close second.

Paul Selwood, G8BGV/P, won the Hilltoppers (10H) section convincingly, making it three wins out of four sessions.   Ashley Edwards, M0BAO/P, was runner up.

Phil Willetts, M6SRZ/P, is awarded the leading foundation station certificate.
