50MHz CW CONTEST - 27/6/21

The number of entrants in the 2021 50MHz CW Contest was 34 (9 section AO, 20 section AR and 5 section AL, plus one checklog). This was 35% down on 2020, but a gratifying 212% up on 2019 - the previous comparable year. Conditions were almost universally reported as flat - or as one entrant put it 'no conditions'... Only one contact via sporadic E was reported, although a number of others were made using meteor scatter. Nevertheless, 10 DXCC entities (DL, EI, G, GI, GM, GW, I, ON, PA and SM) appear in the logs amongst a total of 86 valid calls from 32 big squares (22 UK&CD and ten outside). The best DX was between G4FJK on IO80 and SM6YNO in JO67 at 1263km - one of two contacts at over 1000km. A noisy band and deep QSB were also reported.
