First 70 MHz 2013

The number of entrants and active stations fell this year, probably due to the weather which rendered a number of portable sites inaccessible. There were 108 stations active from G, GM, GU, GW, ON and PA. While activity dropped off after the first hour, 17% of all contacts took place in the last hour.

Conditions were rated from mediocre to flat to average with deep QSB causing difficulty and resulting in a number of logging errors. A number of stations commented on high noise levels which unfortunately will only get worse in urban environments. There were ten contacts greater than 500kms with the best contact being between G4TSW (IO80) and GM8OEG (IO86) at 628kms.
