RSGB Contest Results First 70MHz Contest 2014

First 70 MHz  2014

More stations were active this year although the number of entrants remained steady.  In total there were 125 stations active from  G, GJ, GM, GU, GW, LX, ON and PA.  Portable entrants were greeted by wind, rain and muddy fields!

Conditions were generally rated as average with the usual four metre QSB causing problems.  Activity levels were rated from low through fair to good.  There were 27 QSOs greater than 500kms with the best contact being between G4TSW (IO80) and PA4VHF (JO32) at 729kms.  In total 3.6% of QSOs were disallowed with errors in RST and serial number forming the majority of errors.

Entrants are again reminded that the bandplan must be adhered to, and in particular general rule 4q specifies that operation on the calling frequencies shall be avoided.

Congratulations go to the section winners:

  •  Open:  Tiverton (SW) RC, G4TSW for the second year in a row;
  •  SF:       David, G4ASR also for the second year in a row;

who together with the runners up and other stations identified will receive certificates.
