October UHF Contest 2014

A slight drop in entry level this year but with conditions not quite as dire as 2013, a higher QSO count was achieved. Nonetheless, many found it quite a struggle to work stations and find activity with a notable lack of UK stations on air. Several achieved good QSO distances by taking advantage of the opportunity to use aircraft reflections. This can for some that are well away from activity be the only way to achieve contacts.

Congratulations to Colchester Radio Amateurs who managed to obtain 1,000 points for 5 of their 6 bands giving them top spot in the overall Open Section table. The Five Bells Group are runners up in the Open Section.
John Quarmby G3XDY leads the Single Operator Fixed Section overall table, this is a position John has held for 12 consecutive years so a great achievement. John managed to win all of his entered bands despite having equipment failure on 23cm just 2 hours into the contest. Mike Stevens is runner up in this section.
Congratulations also go to all band leaders, runners-up & all other certificate winners.

Thank you all for your entries and good luck in the May UHF/70cm/3cm Trophy contests.
