Christmas Cumulatives 2012

After last year’s largest ever entry, the record was broken again in this year’s contest.   73 stations submitted at least one log, compared to 65 last year.

Despite the gloomy comments from entrants, QSO numbers by leading stations were higher than in 2011 on 6m and 4m.   It seems that the busy UKACs are still affecting perceptions in other contests!   QSO numbers were slightly down on last year on 2m and 70cm, however.   This decline on the higher bands was mainly down to last year’s good conditions on 2m and 70cm, which sadly weren’t repeated in 2012.

The Open section was won by regular entrant G8NVI/P for the second year running.   They were clear winners, and bandleaders on every band.   The station was operated by Ann and Mike Stevens, G8NVI and G8CUL respectively.   Michael Willis G0MJW/P was runner-up, moving up from 5th place last year.

It was close at the top of the Single Operator Fixed secion, with David Butler G4ASR taking the top spot.   Tony Pugh GW8ASD was in second place, up from third last year.
