UBA ON CONTEST (by Ian G0FCT)

The following has been received from Leon ON5WL, and presents an interesting mix of HF and VHF elements in one contest:

    HF Championship 2012

RESULTS OF 2012 HF CHAMPIONSHIP (by Quin G3WRR)

The results of the 2012 HF Championship have now been published on the CC website here. After two years in which a number of non-RSGB contests were included in the qualifying events, and in which a “best m out on n events” scoring regime was used, the 2013 season – already in progress - consists of 6 RSGB only qualifying events, which will all count towards the result. As stated last month, the 2013 results are progressively updated and are shown here.

80m CLUB SPRINTS (by Quin G3WRR)

The 80m Club Championship season for 2013 is now complete. For readers who have become addicted to evening 80m contests, however, the 80m Club Sprints are now running - one CW and one SSB event per month - until the end of November. The club element remains, but the format is rather different: a station which establishes a contact by calling CQ, QRZ, etc. must then change frequency by at least 2kHz before soliciting another contact (full rules are here). This has a slightly unfamiliar (but interesting) flavour, and requires a rather different set of skills from the 80m CCs – so if you haven’t entered one of the Sprints before, why not come on and give them a try?

    AND FINALLY

A bumper crop of contest results this month, but rather short on other items. However one of the occasional bits of good parental advice I received has been followed …. “if you don’t have anything to say, then don’t say anything”. But watch this space as next month should be fuller!

    Good contesting to you all.

    73, Quin G3WRR
