RSGB Affiliated Societies Contests 2013, 80m CW and SSB

Start the new year with these busy contests -- they are the two of the most popular you will ever find! If you thought that the 80m Club Championship contests were fun, you will really like these club events. Contribute by just participating and gathering points for your team. You don't need a high or complex antenna, a simple low dipole works well.

    1. Basic Information

Club scores from these contests contribute towards the AFS Super League

The RSGB General Rules apply to this contest

    Dates:
CW Event: Sunday 13th January 2013
SSB Event: Saturday 19th January 2013

    Time: 1400 - 1800UTC.

    Frequencies:
    CW: 3510 - 3590kHz.
    SSB: 3600 - 3750kHz

    Exchange: RST plus serial number

    2. Eligible Entrants

    (a) Each entering club must be affiliated to the RSGB.
    (b) Operators must be members of the club they represent. Operators are not required to be a members of the RSGB.
    (c) All stations representing a club must be located within a radius of 50 miles of the normal meeting-place of the club, and be within the UK. Where a club has branches, eg RNARS, it may define separate branch meeting-places, and the team(s) entered by each branch will be considered to be entirely separate from those entered by other branches, except in respect of affiliation.
    (d) Each station may be single or multioperator, but no station or operator may represent more than one affiliated club or branch.

    3. Teams

Teams comprise of up to four stations for both the CW and SSB sections. Clubs may enter as many teams as they wish. The teams will be designated (for example) Anytown Radio Society Team A, Anytown Radio Society B, and so on. The adjudication software will allocate the four highest scoring stations to "Team A", the second highest scoring to "Team B", etc.

    4. Contacts

In the CW section, the section around 3580kHz is reserved for slower-speed contacts. It is intended that operators less experienced in CW and contest techniques should be able to make contacts here in a more relaxed environment. Experienced contesters operating around this frequency are required to keep their speed down.

    5. Scoring

10 points per contact, including contacts with non-UK stations.

    6. Entries

Online entries must be submitted to http://www.rsgbcc.org/cgi-bin/hfenter.pl by the date specified in the RSGB General Rules. Logs must be uploaded individually, using an AFS Club Name chosen from the list on the contest entry robot.

The RSGB Contest Committee verifies that distance rules are being complied with. Therefore the address, including postcode or QTH locator of the normal meeting place of each club (and any of its Branches) must be emailed to afs.query@rsgbcc.org. This only needs to be done once for each club, after which the information will be kept on file. The currently held address information can viewed and verified during AFS log submission. Additions to the robot club names list or changes to the club meeting place data should also be emailed to afs.query@rsgbcc.org

Individual entries may alternatively be submitted via the QSO entry web page http://www.rsgbcc.org/cgi-bin/hfcover.pl
