    RSGB First 1.8MHz Contest
    The top-band contests are some of the oldest organised by the RSGB. The first one of the year is a CW and SSB event, with QSOs being allowed on both modes in an "everyone works everyone" format.
     
      1. KEY INFORMATION
     
     (a) General Rules The RSGB General Rules apply to this contest.
     (b) When? Date: 14-15 February 2015 (the 2nd full weekend in February). Time:  21:00 - 01:00 UTC
     (c) Modes CW and SSB.
     (d) Entrants  Both UK and non-UK entrants are welcome to participate.
    All entrants (UK and non-UK) may contact all other stations.
     (e) Frequencies SSB:  1852-1920 kHz (suppressed carrier / dial frequencies) CW: 1810-1840 kHz
    Power limits: UK entrants are reminded that their power limit on SSB frequencies is 32 W.
     (f) Exchange  All entrants: send signal report (RS[T]) + serial number UK entrants: also send District Code
    Serial Numbers start at 001, and are continuous for CW and SSB.
    Minimum exchange from a non-contestant is a signal report (RS[T]).
    Exchanges from stations in other contests must be logged as sent.
     
      2. SECTIONS AND ENTRANTS
     
     (a) Sections, UK entrants Unassisted: (i) CW-only, (ii) SSB-only, (iii) Mixed-mode (CW and SSB).
    Assisted: (i) CW-only, (ii) SSB-only, (iii) Mixed-mode (CW and SSB).
     (b) Sections, non-UK entrants Unassisted: (i) CW-only, (ii) SSB-only, (iii) Mixed-mode (CW and SSB).
    Assisted: (i) CW-only, (ii) SSB-only, (iii) Mixed-mode (CW and SSB).
     (c) Definitions: Please see the RSGB General Rules for explanation of Assisted and Unassisted.
     (d) Mixed-mode: In mixed-mode Sections, two contacts may be made with each station, one on CW and one on SSB.
     (e) Single Operator All entrants must be Single-Operator. There is no Multi Operator category.
     (f) Call Signs UK entrants who hold a valid Ofcom NoV may use Contest Call Signs (SCC).
     
      3. SCORING AND LOGGING
     
     (a) Scoring system  QSO score: Three points per contact.
    Bonus score: A Bonus of 5 points is scored for the first contact with every UK District
    For UK entrants only, an additional Bonus of 5 points for the first contact with every DXCC Country (entity) outside the UK.
    For Mixed-mode entrants a Bonus can count twice, once on CW and once on SSB.
     (b) Logs Format:  Logs must be in Cabrillo format.
    Example of a log for this contest.
    Entries: Logs must be submitted online within 16 days. So for a contest on the 8-9 February, for example, the deadline is 23:59:59 on the 25th February.
    Paper Logs: If a computer was not used for logging, entries may be submitted on paper. The RSGB General Rules explain the procedure.
     
      4. RESULTS AND AWARDS
     
     (a) Score Tabulation There will be separate tables for UK and non-UK entrants.
    The mode (CW, SSB, mixed) used by each entrant will be shown in the table.
     (b) Trophies The Somerset Trophy is awarded to the leading UK entrant (CW, SSB or mixed), Unassisted Section.
    The Maitland Trophy is awarded to the Scottish entrant (CW, SSB or mixed), Unassisted Section, with the highest aggregate score in the February and November 1.8MHz contests.
     (c) Certificates The top three Mixed-mode entrants in UK and non-UK Sections are awarded certificates.
    The top three CW-only entrants in UK and non-UK Sections are awarded certificates.
    The top three SSB-only entrants in UK and non-UK Sections are awarded certificates.
     (d) Previous Results A list of results for previous years is available -- see "1.8Mhz Contest (1st)" on this web page.
     (e) HF Championship For UK entrants their score from this contest contributes to the RSGB HF Championship.
