    RSGB RoLo Contests 2016

    These contests are a real test of your operating skills:
    Chinese whispers using Rotating Locators!

    Rule changes for 2016:

    To make the contest more inclusive, Locators are now used instead of Postcodes.
    Both contests now take place on Sunday evenings.
    The second contest of the year changes to October, when 80m conditions should be better.

     
      1. KEY INFORMATION
     
    1(a) General RoLo stands for ROtating LOcators, so called because the contest exchange depends on that received in the previous QSO, and the exchanges consists of entrants' locators. There are two of these short contests per year: SSB in April, and CW in October.
    1(b) RoLo 1 -- SSB Date: 3rd April 2016 (the first Sunday in April) Time: 19:00 - 20:30 UTC
    Band: 3600-3650kHz & 3700-3775kHz only. Note: The lowest "carrier" (dial) frequency to be used which lies within the specified sub-bands is 3602kHz for 3600-3650kHz, and 3702kHz for 3700-3775kHz
     
    1(c) RoLo 2 -- CW
     
    Date: 16th October 2016 (the Sunday of the 3rd full weekend in October) Time: 19:00 - 20:30 UTC
    Band: 3520-3560kHz only
    1(d) Exchange RS(T), then for the first contact, send the entrant's own six character QRA Locator (also known as QTH Locator or Maidenhead grid locator) -- that for 10 Downing Street, London, SW1A 2AA, being "IO91WM" for example.
    For each subsequent contact, RS(T) plus the Locator received from the previous contact.
    1(e) Power limit 100 watts
    1(f) General Rules The HF General Rules apply to these contests
    1(g) Definition The term "UK&CD" in these rules refers to the "United Kingdom and Crown Dependencies". This means jurisdictions allocated prefixes G, GD, GI, GJ, GM, GU and GW. The term "non-UK" means anywhere outside the UK&CD
     
      2. ADDITIONAL RULES
     
    2(a) Scoring 10 points for each contact.
    2(b) Valid contacts Contacts with stations outside the UK&CD are encouraged. On SSB it may be possible to explain that the exchange sent is the previous exchange received!
    2(c) Contest Callsigns UK&CD Special Contest Calls (SCC) are not permitted, even for entrants who hold a valid NoV from Ofcom
    2(d) HF Championship Scores from single-operator UK&CD entries to these contests contribute to the RSGB HF Championship
     
      3. ENTRIES
     
    3(a) Method Entries must be submitted online or on paper, in accordance with the Entries section in the HF General Rules.
    3(b) Format Online entries must be in Cabrillo format -- examples: SSB log, CW log
    3(c) Entry Date No later than 7 days after the end of the contest
     
      4. AWARDS FOR THESE CONTESTS
     
    4(a) RoLo 1 -- SSB The Verulam Silver Jubilee Trophy to the highest scoring UK&CD entrant with the most accurate log
    4(b) RoLo 2 -- CW The G3XTJ Memorial Trophy to the highest scoring UK&CD entrant with the most accurate log
    4(c) Aggregate scores The G5MY Trophy to the entrant with the highest aggregate UK&CD score from both events
    4(d) Certificates Certificates to the highest scoring UK&CD and non-UK entrants in each contest.
